You can now open files from outside your vault in Obsidian. The file opens in your current window (Desktop only).
- Added the "Open file from outside the vault..." command. Pick any file on your computer and view it in the app.
- Obsidian now appears in your operating system's Open with menu, and you can set it as the default app for Markdown files (requires downloading the latest installer).
Improvements
- All in-app links now take you to the localized version of the Obsidian website.
- Base font size is no longer saved to
appearance.json. It is now stored in the device's local storage, so it no longer syncs with Obsidian Sync.
- Improved drag and drop in the kanban layout and File Explorer. The view now smoothly scrolls when dragging near the edge.
- The editor link suggestions (e.g.
[[) and the quick switcher no longer switch to a simplified algorithm in vaults with more than 10,000 files. Fuzzy matching is now always used.
- Format converter: Removed old formats from the converter plugin.
Bases
- Kanban: Cards can now be moved between folder columns when grouped by
file.folder.
- Kanban: Creating a note in a column now places it in the corresponding folder when grouped by
file.folder.
- Kanban: Added error feedback when moving a card fails, such as when the note has invalid properties or the target folder is missing.
No longer broken
- Editor: Fixed Markdown formatting characters not parsing correctly around emails (e.g.
*Some email: [email protected]*).
- Editor: Fixed clicking on collapsed reference links (e.g.
[link][]) going to the wrong destination.
- Bases: Fixed page preview showing the wrong height when previewing a kanban view.
- Fixed incorrect language code used for Khmer.
