Apps come and go, but the files you create should last.
Today, we are excited to share a new official, open source plugin for Obsidian called Importer. You can find it in the Plugins directory.
Our goal for Importer is to make it easy to convert your notes from a variety of formats to Markdown files that you own and can use with any app that supports plain text files.
As we state in our Manifesto:
We believe that your data should be future-proof and easily accessible, no matter where you are.
By converting your notes to plain text files, you can take ownership over your data and avoid becoming locked into a specific tool.
Importer supports converting from a wide variety of apps and formats. These include Apple Notes, Notion, Evernote, Google Keep, Microsoft OneNote, Bear, Roam Research, HTML files, and more.
Obsidian stores your files in a local folder on your device, so that you always have control over them, even offline.
